The late afternoon sun casts a glow on the inner canyon, and the blustery Monsoonal clouds scatter across the sky….we can only wonder what activities might have taken place in and around the Grand Canyon thousands of years ago. Only a few artifacts remain as tangible evidence, but the spirits live on when the mid Summer thunderstorms begin to rumble in the sky. |

At 8,803 feet, Point Imperial is the highest point on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Located on the North Rim, Point Imperial overlooks the towering Mount Hayden, like a giant skyscraper or monolith of galactic proportions. It’s a sight like no other when the morning clouds flow into the Canyon and the Ravens effortlessly circle Point Imperial. |

There’s no better place to sit and relax after a good hike or just for the fun of it than the porch of the North Rim Lodge. The view is unparalleled, with Zoroaster, Brahma and Deva Temples right in your face, with an unobstructed view across the Canyon, clear to the San Francisco Peaks some 80 miles away. You’ll never forget the comfortable wooden rockers and the good time you had on the porch. |

When traveling to the South Rim from Williams you pass this large Mexican Hat shaped Butte called Red Butte. Right away you know you’re not in Kansas any more and something big is about to come along. Rarely do you think of Red Butte and the North Rim, however when viewed from the North Rim it really stands out on the billiard table of the high Chapparal. Plus now you’ve got the Grand Canyon as window dressing for Red Butte. |

Looking West from Yavapai Point it’s like Jona peering into the whale’s belly. The side canyons and ridges jut into the main Canyon from North and South and just keep going and going…. and going. The morning light is best when viewing to the West and the most awesome thing is created… the morning shadows. |
